Seydou Keita and his connection with Valencia CF
The Malian footballer, nephew of Salif Keita, played the 2013/14 season with the Valencia CF squad.
Valencia CF will play their Matchday 4 fixture of LALIGA EA SPORTS 25/26 this coming Sunday against a ‘familiar’ opponent: FC Barcelona. Today, we look back at the story of one of the most internationally experienced players to have featured for both clubs: Seydou Keita.
The Bamako-born midfielder joined Valencia CF in January 2014 after his successful spell at FC Barcelona (2008-2012), where he won 3 LaLiga titles, 3 Spanish Super Cups, 2 Copa del Rey titles, 2 Champions Leagues, 2 UEFA Super Cups and 2 FIFA Club World Cups.
Keita arrived at the Club with a very special family connection: his uncle Salif Keita, who was the first African player in Valencia CF’s history, featuring in the first team for three seasons, from 1973 to 1976.
Seydou played 18 matches for the Club, scoring one goal (against UD Almería). At the end of the season, he signed for AS Roma.
